Open Burning Allowed April 1-30

Open burning of yard waste is allowed in East Peoria from April 1 through 30 (except for Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 for Easter weekend).
Residents may burn only dry leaves and other landscape waste. Only dry material should be burned to produce as little smoke as possible. Burning may occur only during daylight hours on non-windy days and in small piles. The burn must be constantly supervised by a responsible adult and be completely extinguished when finished. A water source must be nearby.
Residents are asked to check with their neighbors prior to burning brush in case they have health problems that might be affected by smoke so that an appropriate time can be arranged.
A complete copy of the city’s open burning ordinance is available online at www.cityofeastpeoria.com, and at East Peoria City Hall or by contacting the assistant fire chief on duty at the Central Fire Station.
