East Peoria Voice

New and Notable at Fondulac District Library

Art Show Returns April 21-27
Enjoy an eclectic display of art during the East Peoria Woman’s Club Art Show. The judged exhibit showcases the art of East Peoria Central Jr. High and East Peoria Community High School students. The artwork is available for viewing after its installation on April 21. The show can then be visited anytime during the library’s operating hours and closes at 5pm April 27.

Big Rig Petting Zoo 2025
The library’s popular Big Rig Petting Zoo returns to Washington Street Saturday, May 10, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. This very unusual zoo is perfect for the transportation enthusiast and a chance for kids to experience and explore community vehicles and heavy equipment. Past vehicles have included Caterpillar tractors and bulldozers, buses from CitiLink, a vintage fire engine provided by Wheels O’ Time Museum, and a hovercraft provided by Fon du Lac Park District’s Marine Law Enforcement department. Transportation-themed crafts also will be available to make inside the library.

NEW THIS YEAR:
The library has extended our Big Rig Petting Zoo in order to offer a quieter time for all kiddos who love big trucks, but might not like all the noise that comes with them! Sensory-friendly time will be 10 to 10:30am. During this time, all vehicles will be closed, sirens will be off, no horns will be honked, and families are welcome to explore the outside of vehicles. However, once 10:30am rolls around, doors will open, sirens will start, and kids can explore the insides of these amazing vehicles for the rest of the event!

Maker Services
Fondulac District Library offers unique maker technology so the public can transform their ideas into reality through design, invention, and building. The library houses a Bambu X1-Carbon Combo 3D printer, as well as a Glowforge Plus 3D CNC laser cutter engraver.

Not sure where to begin? Many websites, like Thingiverse, MakerWorld, and Tinkercad, share ideas and designs of 3D printed objects. The Design Catalog on the Glowforge website is a great resource, and the library has a Premium subscription to provide patrons with a wide variety of compatible designs. More experienced “makers” may submit their own designs as long as the projects comply with library policies. Project requests are processed and completed by library staff.

More information, including policies, prices, and a project request form, is available at fondulaclibrary.org. Any additional questions about these services can be directed to the Adult Services department at (309) 699-3917 ext. 2251.

Early Closure May 5–9
The library will close at 5pm May 5 through 9 for building maintenance. The library’s online services are always available 24/7 at fondulaclibrary.org. Stream a movie or music, download eBooks and audiobooks, access your account to place holds or renew items, or use our online resources from our website and apps.
